STOP HATING!

Is this guy born to be a Yank? or WHAT?
this picture mind you was from like 5 years ago

OK I admit, I wanted "Man-Ram" to team up with "A-Rod"
if for any other reason but to get "A-Rod's" head straight

....if for any other reason but to get "A-Rod's" head straight

THE "R&R" boys
ROCK AND ROLL!

YEAH! to get "ARod's" HEAD STRAIGHT!

AND BACK TO BASEBALL!
Manny has a way of saying "stop bein stoopid Yo"

YEAH! I think Damon's as much as I like him, time may be up in NY, with the signing of Teixera...with Brian Roberts a free agent next year..I was thinking put the weak throwing LF Damon (who is always good for .300-20-80) at 1B, dropping him to 3rd in lineup, to incorporate a Gardner in LF @ 9th and perhaps a Roberts leading off @ 2nd base...gives a slow team more speed

Which leads to What about "Cano"

? well. we do need a CF, Here's some suggested trades I asked for

I think the team will be MUCH BETTER OFF with Roberts than Cano
Cody Ransom can fill in-meantime

As far as other teams (especially the Red Sox) who rejected Teixera
(yeah don't cry you could've had him)

STOP HATING!

they all have the money!!!

Baltimore NEEDS to MOVE perhaps to North Carolina (as I believe Tampa BaY WILL MOVE TO New Orleans and become "The Bay Rays" -Gulf Bay

They "The Orioles" need to then market there franchising better make themselves a more attractive place to come!

They can ALWAYS move The Nat's into Camden or have the Yankees play there on a few weekends as Homage to their roots

THREE SHEETS IN THE WiND

With the winter meetings heating up in the Vegas sin, This is a follow up to my post Offseason moves

I'd pursue Ben Sheets now instead of wasting 80 million and 5 years on Burnett like discussed before in Offseason moves post

Sheets has simular stuff if not as good as Burnett maybee better if he can stay healthy.
Also it might intice the real prize of the 08 offseason Sabthia to join his former teamate

Then I would pursue Derek Lowe too for back end rotation experience

On the Offense???

well if Pitt will take a -Kennedy-Alan Horne and melky and/or -A.Jackson ....trade for CF Nate McLouth I'd defenetly pull it off,

BUT NO Phil Hughes!

I would also watch the "Nick "Paul O'Neill the 2nd" Markakis contract extentions with Orioles if he doesn't sign long term there...................I'd defentely start offering Cano and whomever is left over in the McLouth deal!!!

Unless you're expecting BIG THINGS from Cano and Cabrera

TRADES OFFSEASON, Oct 9th 2008

TRADES OFFSEASON, Oct 9th 2008

everyone knows we need to go after bulldogs like A.J. Burnett and even a secondary pitcher like Mets Ollie Perez, And to make a decision on Joba and STICK WITH IT!!! the entire season and bring up guys like Mark Melenchon....however.....

But really what killed the Yankees was not hitting with RISP

.....Watching especially the TampaBay Sunrays vs. Chicago Blacksox divisional series. I notices how slow the Chisox looked waiting around for a 3 run homerun while Tampa would hit double after scorching double steal a base advance a runner and it occured to me......

That's exactly what the Yankees Lack!

Doubles hitter, rippers guys who hack against good pitchers who wont take no for an answer they lack that attitude

Then I went over the Yanks 2008 lineup, YES they we're hurting without Posada who defenetly has that attitude. But Posada or Matsui or NOT, withstanding,  they sorely lacked this kind of(Kevin Youklis) gritty type player &* hitter,  ALL THEY really HAD was big swing guys hit or miss :-/

Giambi who's option CANNOT be resigned!!!!  Only had 19 doubles!!!
no wonder Arod had an off year who hit behind him?

....you could make Arod fish, then are you worried about walking Giambi to first? and without Nady and Matsui and Posada out most or all of the year.... who was behind Giambi?

Thats why the Yankees must get younger, and target certain type players:

Here's a few trades I strongly suggest

Nick Markakis who's very reminescent of O'Neil as much as Peter Angelos loves Markakis lets face it he'll be a Yankee in 2011 anyway, why not get something for him?

Markakis for Cano, Caberera, and Kennedy if they don't want Cabrera then Austin Jackson as much as Yankee fans love AJax potential is his ceiling really going to be higher then Markakis who is only 24?

if the O's don't bite then Nate McLouth for the same or simular package if we can land Markakis we should still try to trade for McLouth anyway maybee an Alan Horne and another Pitching prospect we will never use or even a Melky Caberera

IT IS EMINENT WE GET A GOOD GAP HITTER W/ POWER AND SPEED IN MIDDLE OF THE LINEUP!!!! AND NOT BE A SLOW TRODDEN TEAM!

lineup should look something like this..

SS Jeter R
LF Gardner L
3b Arod R
DH Matsui L
1b Nady
RF Markakis L
CF McLouth L
C Posada S
2b Ransom R

Yes give Cody Ransom a chance he has that something attitude and demeanor that can go over very well here , and why Jeter one and Gardner two?

Well because I like Jeters abilty to start a game and take the pitcher deep better than Gardner's who reminds me of another number#2 hitter Wally Backman and furthermore I like Gardners abilty to bunt after Jeter.

And I also like Arod in the three hole takes pressure off him to be a slugger and asks him to be more of a complete hitter

CURSE OF THE BAMBINO?

This expert was taken from Girl_in_NY foxsports.com blog (poignant words here makes you wonder?) was so good I had to use being I was their for the final game ever @ Yankee Stadium
(I realized it isn't the players who come and go who are the stars but it's the stadium!!!)

next up changes for 2009 many will suprise you
enjoy the read from Girl_in_NY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to Yankee Stadium this last week and I have to wonder which made me start this blog being a big Yankee fan as well, If the Yankees have cursed themselves by destroying history and knocking down the old Yankee stadium in favor for greed and a brand new Stadium across the street?

What would Babe do if he heard? is he turning over in his grave? The Yankees and Arod unlucky #13 named after another unlucky #13 Dan Marino seemed to have started their current decline and role reversal with the hated and curse of the Bambino suffering RedSox in 2004 when the Redsox miracously came back after being down 3 games to none, which was the same year plans for the "New Yankee Stadium" were going in effect

The words of former New York city mayor Rudy Giuliani are poignant as they are powerfull in his memories of "the Stadium" "The thing I'm going miss the most is being in the physical presence and walking on the same ground that all those ball players walked. The thing that gives Yankee Stadium that sacred feeling is the history -it's like going to the Gettysburg" -Rudy Giuliani Their is to much history and memmories attached to the building. No matter how nice "The New Yankee stadium" is going to be, it's just not going to be the same :-( in this girl's opinion

AUG 5TH 2008: no relief in site?

.
..
ANOTHER DAY GONE BY NO GROUND GAINED!

.....TWO GAMES NOW THE YANKS SHOULD'VE WON!!!
THE ANGELS 1-0 LOSS AND TONIGHT MAKING THE TOTAL @ 7 BLOWN GAMES ALL TOGETHER AND BEING 5.5 GAMES OUT WITH THOSE SEVEN GAMES THEY WOULD BE TWO UP

THEY NEED TO GO ON ANOTHER TORRID WINNING STREAK! I KNOW THEY'RE PLAYING THE TOUGEST STRETCH OF THE SEASON THE LAST 7 GAMES VS. BOSTON AND ANAHEIM AND THE NEXT 7 AGAINST TEXAS AND ANAHEIM AGAIN

BUT I JUST DON'T SEE IT WITH JOBA BEING HURT NOW AND PONSOON AND RASNER @ THE BACK OF THE ROATION AND YOUR EIGHT INNING REPLACEMENTS EDWIN RAMIREZ AND DAMASO MARTE GIVING UP GRAND SLAMS ON CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS!!!

  • MARTE is only good for one inning or as a lefty specialist!

  • now that we gave up Ross Olendorf we need another guy who can go long into xtra innings other than Dan Giese, I say bring up Alan Horne

and, I THINK IT'S TIME TO BRING UP MARK MELANCON HE'S ALREADY 25 AND HE'S READY

JULY 31, 2008: MANNY FOR BAY

.
.
The biggest trade was Boston trading troubled leftfielder Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers for Jason Bay . It gets Manny who's a notorious Yankee killer out of the division but does it really weaken the Bosox?

No!

Jason Bay stats match or equal Ramirez offense input. And his on field defense and clubhouse presence should should exceed Manny!

Manny's numbers

AVG.
.299
HR
20
RBI
68
SB
1

Jason Bay's numbers

AVG.
.282
HR
22
RBI
64
SB
7

BYE BYE KYLE, WE WILL MISS YOUR EXPLOITS

I like having an intimidating Goose Gossage, Jon Papelbom crazy wild eyed presence and that what was Farnsworth, He was our only guy like that!!!
.
.
Now the Yankees didn't add much needed lefty rotation inning eater Jarod Washburn like I hope they would have
.
.
.
.
.
However Other than the Damaso Marte, Xavier Nady deal which was a steal, I'm NOT on board
trading our 8th inning tough guy fighting mad spirit of Kyle Farnsworth for an over the hill, yet hall of famer best years are behind him Ivan Rodriguez what are we going to do with him next year!!!!
!

?
They must have ALOT of confidence in Jose Veras, Edwar Ramirez and Darrel Robertson with Brian Brunney comming back and Damaso Marte
........and with Mark Melanchon and Andrew Brackman waiting in the wings???

To Deal away the 8th inning and, grit of the team!!!

JULY 29TH 2008, GOOD TRADE

XMAN and the best lefty specialist out there DAMASO MARTE for JEFF KARSTENS and I am a RUBEN RIVERA, RICKY LEDEE CLONE JOSE TABATA

But we're still not done I think we need another power lefty to close out the roation and should go after Washburn

as far as taking 2 out of 3 in Boston, would've been nice to take 3 out of 3
and Joba should'nt thrown @Youklis, because it puts our players namely AROD in jeaporady to be thrown @ themselves ...Shouldn't have opened that pandora's box, let Boston open that box.

JULY 9TH 2008 VOTE 4 THE MUSTACHE- THE ALL STAR BREAK- CAN THE YANKEES BE "PITCHED" TO???

VOTE ON MLB FOR GIAMBI OR TEXT A2 TO 36197
. UPDATE, JULY 13, 2008 - THE ALL STAR BREAK- grades
.
.
.
.
.
CAN THE YANKEES BE "PITCHED" TO???
.
.
. I mean it isn't like AJ Burnett is Sandy Koufax you know you're in trouble when Sabathia 2 run homerun today... has more an offence input than your entire team!!!

there is to many below .250 hitters in this lineup not carrying there weight!
I know it's tough without Matsui and Damon missing...but still

OK, it's a little past midseason but time for grades here

MANAGER/ COACHES

Joe Giradi C- , lost about 4 games I can think of due to poor decision making

LINEUP

C. Posada Inc- injured much of season. cannot play up to the level of weak hitting Molina behind plate anymore

C. Molina B- gets key hit, sometimes when needed, never going to be a .280 hitter but defense is impecible

1B. Giambi B+ terrible april but has carried team lack luster offense the rest of way, liability in field

2b. Cano F+ ; terrible head isn't in the game when his role in lineup is lessended @ in bottom third of lineup

3B. Arod D+ ;does not get the clutch hit, overswings guesses wrong strikes out in key spots too much

SS. Jeter-D+ ;does not get the clutch hit anymore defense has improved from last year

LF. Matsui A- injured may not return this season but was hitting .320 and getting on base

Damon B- liability in field may hit 3-5 or go 4-4 but go hitless the rest of the week too
streaky

CF. Melk Man D- ; great defense very little offense in spurts he shows what he can do but to many 0 for 4 performances head seems NOT to be in game as much when hes batting 7th or 8th like he is when @ leadoff

RF. Bobby Abreu C- ,showing signs of age and rust in outfield not on base as much as his career .395 mark would suggest way down this year to about in the .320's still is a gamer but in the 3 hole maybee needs to set things off more in this lack luster offense and show more power!

Reserves

inf- Wilson Bettemit -D+ ; for someone with a beautiful cut and swing he really cant hit!!! may show flashes of power, but is a liability in lineup and to opposing teams a sure out

1B-OF Shelley Duncan -D ; isnt a major league hitter! will never hit above .240 may get his 15 to 30 homeruns a year if gets at bats but isn't a major league monster the way he dominates class AA

Pitchers

Mussina A+ ; what more can you say he's the professional

Wang B+ ; injured, counted on to be yanks #1, but really is a number 2, or three on most good staffs

Joba B+ ; too early to tell seems to be he's going to be a good starter NOT great!! but was a great set up man closer

Pettite C ; two good starts, one bad....even during bad starts battles a professional

Rasner C+ ;end of rotatiom typre starter , doesnt have greatest stuff but is a battler I like him

SidneyMonsoon; ?- ;hasnt been with team long but has pitched well has good stuff just hes firecracker waiting to blow up

Phil Hughes F :was he really hurt or over valued prospect

Ian Kennedy F : refer to Phil Hughes

Bull Pen

Edwin Ramirez C- : has good stuff, inconsistant

Latroy Hawkins F : never good in close game, would only pitch him when up by 4 runs or more

Jose Veras B- : has electric stuff , but sometimes it's to straight

Kyle Farsworth B- : has electric stuff, but sometimes it's too straight, very good thus far, but worries me nicknames Kyle "you know I'm going to blow a big game sometime" Farsnsworth

Mariano Rivera A+ :what more can you say about the legend having his best season

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall grade C minus- this team @ times seems lazy and uninspired when it comes to guys like Cano or distracted when it comes to Arod, team needs Jeter and Arod to step it up big time, more so than they have an infusion of youth and speed and Damon to be well Damon
and to get competive pitching in 2nd half to even contend

RED SOX 4

Box Score

But we wouldn't have had to come back in extra inning situtions if "Joba" only listened to his catcher in the 5th inning bases loaded and challenged Ellsbury blew it right by him , instead of getting cute throwing a change and walking him and in another run!!!

ALL GREAT PITCHERS REAR BACK AND GIVE IT ALL IN TIGHT SITUATIONS!!!

July 2nd, 2008 -Hank Steinbrenner: Yankees need to wake up

NY YANKEES, 44-40 - 7.5 GB

QUOTE: Hank Steinbrenner...
"We've got to start hitting," Steinbrenner said from Tampa, Fla. "They've got to start waking up. They've shown in flashes what they can still do
." link

-----> fault---------> Joe Giradi ....who doesn't much alter his lineup card and when he does he takes out all his leftys against Oliver Perez in favor of Justin Christian where is he now?... and Wilson Betimet who shown he cant hit from the right side!!

....after Jeter and Arod @ three and four there was NOBODY!!!

  • Jeter hasn't been CAP'N CLUTCH or isn't the same player, he was in the Yankee years late 90's LINK

  • Melky Cabrera .240 avg and Cano just aren't cutting it!

  • Posada hasn't ever gotten untracked with early season injuries and losing Matsui .332 doesn't help either!

  • Arod overswings frequently when faced in late pressure spots link

WHERE IS CAP'N CLUTCH?

.
.
.
.
  • I never seen a worse situational hitting team. they look confused out there. they're letting opposing pitchers dictate to them... instead of dictating theirselves, not like they're facing Sandy Koufax everytime out there! Get your pitch and drive it to the gap!!!

JUNE 18TH , 5 GAMES OVER .500

.
.
WOW the Yanks are on a roll since I told them there theme song should be --> http://memotosteinbrenner.blogspot.com/2008/06/were-not-going-to-take-it.html

Winning 5 of 6 on recent road trip and 8-2 in last ten.....

***Also playing the National League whom the Yankees always beat up on doesn't hurt either!

***But we lost Wang playing that national league due to injury doing what he's no accostmed to running the bases he fractured his foot ..out until september @ earliest

I think the Yanks need to go after a big time lefty even before Wang got hurt.

The biggest fish in the water is Clevelands CC Sabathia, he's up for a contract year next year
so I wouldn't overpay for him either and it also gives us the luxury of looking @ other pithers like Alan Horne and Dan Giese in the meantime ...BUT DONT PANIC

.......but if the Yankees can get him "Sabathia" for some mid-level prospects like a JB Cox or Karstens or even a proven talent in Robinson Tano?

I think the Yankees need to trade for him if they can secure a long time contract too!

I always liked Sabathia even more so then Johan Satana whom I was against trading and think Sabathia has a bigger upside than Satana
And I think he has another good 10 years left in his engine it's not like we're buying a 41 year old Randy Johnson here...If you can get Sabathia go get him----------->

?

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT!

see this symbol -->
I'm begining to think it's a target

just when you think the Yanks got their SWAGGER their STRUT, that they're going to take off get that attitude they cant beaten on any given day
.... they take 2 steps foward ....then two steps back again!

i mean 4 out of 7 homestand isn't what I call a success, you have to play @ least .650 ball in your house NOT barely over .500

they should've easily won 5 out of 7 , they have to start winning and taking pride in defending your home ....OK,OK it's just that breaks dont go there way they have to play against luck against the umps ...what lousy calling the games in the Royal series

  • Giambi called out on a check swing that could've been a big rally!

  • Melky called out on a infield single in which he clearly beat the throw that would've resulted in another 2 runs and a win instead of a loss

and the Yankees are 33-33 and 6.5 games out on
Jun.11,2008

is this just a crappy .500 overpaid team here or have they not caught their breaks or hit their stride? I dont know?

But I know this...
  • I KNOW JOBA IS BETTER THEN FARNSWORTH AND THEY'LL LOSE MANY GAMES IN THE 7TH OR 8TH INNINGS CAUSE NO JOBA AND JOBA WILL STRUGGLE AS STARTER

READ MORE ABOUT WHATS HIS JOBA LOL

  • I KNOW AROD LOOKS MAD CONFUSED IN PRESSURE SITUATIONS OVERSWINGING ON CURVE BALLS AND CHANGEUPS LOOKING FOR THAT HOMERUN INSTEAD OF SHORTING HIS SWING

  • I KNOW ROBINSON TANO SHOULD GO BACK TO THE MINORS UNTIL HE LEARNS HOW TO HIT.
Better learn how to walk be more plate disciplined and not just be a free swinger into the wind

  • I KNOW MELKY TABRERA ISN'T THE FULL TIME ANSWER IN CF

AND I KNOW THIS

I think this seasons theme should be --->

GOTTA GET THEIR SWAGGER BACK MAN! ? !
:-/

ok I'm going to chill on writing post in here for a while let the season play itself out a little unless i have something important to write about I think I covered it all Ill be back @t all star break to evaluate the entire team

MAY 5TH 2008, GIAMBINO BABYYYYYYY!

UPDATE JUNE 5TH 2008

Quote says me; If the Yankees lose today, I'm going to be sick!
Damn that first pitch Giambo fouled off if he got it, he would've YANKED IT!

NEXT PITCH--->

BYE BYE BABY MANTLESCHE MOON SHOT JASON GIAMBI 9-8 YANKEES WIN, YANKEE WIN!!!

but theres a few things I learned about the Yanks TODAY

  • Robinson Tano cannot bunt, that needs to be fixed
  • they have no speed off the bench in running situations
  • and...

But, If there is one thing I really REALLY REALLY learned about the Yanks today it's that when you DONT want Robinson Tano to hit into a Double play he does and that Farsworth pushes the envelope too much to be trusted in one run games and doesn't give a $HiT

  • HEY KYLE test your stuff in a 4 run game NOT A #1 run game

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.
So IN CONCLUSION AGAIN..... answer me this? What good is having Joba in the rotation to only have him pitch let's say "8" beautiful innings and leaving the Yankees ahead 4 to 1, only to bring in Kyle Farnsworth to walk the side then relieve him with Hawkins who gives up a grandslam after???
.
.
Who will Save Joba?

.
.
a tough few games comming up against a team whom plays well in their stadium the last in the Metrodome comming up with a fly ball pitcher pitching game #1, in a park where fly balls, fly out!
.

In conclussion, from a Yankee insider--->

If you ask me it’s a mistake with Joba like the Redsox tried with Paplebom they’ll soon see Joba run into high pitch counts and struggle before the 5th

He’s best when comming in for 2 innings tops!

keeping his pitch count down and throwing the heck off the baseball cover,

Like Boston learned with trying to put Pappelbom in the rotation the Yanks will learn as well and look eslsewhere for there Josh Becket.

June 4th 2008 "WHAT THE JOBA"

-----------------

June 4th, 2008

OK count them 8 games the Yankees gave away thus far this season and counting.....?

Where would the Yanks be if they haven't gave away those "8" games and most recently 2 to the Orioles and 1 to the Twins and 1 to the Blue Jays because Joba couldn't throw past 60 pitches and didn't get past the 2nd and Toronto got into the bullpen early

the bullpen HAS NO DIRECTION!

NO IDENIDITY!!!!

You do the math 36-22 and in 1st! OK, OK let's only count the games as recently the 4 in total
32-26 and only 3.5 out, NOT 7.0 and falling fast!

  • Now they defenetely lost 2 games to the division rival Orioles because they couldn't go to "Joba" in the late inning twice! game they should've WON!

  • They lost #1 to Minnesota on road trip because Farnsworth doesn't give a $hit and will come over the plate if he wants! .....case sir rah sir rah

  • And they defentely lost yesterday because of Joba directly and this silly starting pitcher project pitch count they have with Toronto getting into unstable arms as Ramirez and Hawkins and Farnsworth...All Joba's replacements!!!

Tell me? What good is having "Joba" pitch once every 5 days and have Hawkins and Ramirez and Farnsworth take his place when your other pitchers Mussina, Pettite and Hughes, Kennedy or whomever you place in those spots CANT GET PAST THE 5TH or 6TH

TO ONLY HAND THE GAME TO ...HAWKINS, FARSNWORTH....RAMIREZ?

HANK NEEDS TO CHECK HIS HEAD

And who will be held accountable andblamed and be the scapegoat for Hank and George's mistakes????
<---- poor Brian, that's who ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- .
