MAY. 28, 2008- PLAY TODAY WIN TODAY

see this symbol -->
that's the symbol of excellence

was watching the Mets tonight they way @ least in this game that "they dont give up @bats " they take what they're given, they steal bases, move runners over, bunt

  • TOO MANY TIMES I SEE YANKEES LIKE AROD especially in late inning with runners in scoring position and when their is 2 strikes LOOK FOR ONE PITCH instead of shorting his swing going with whatever the pitcher throws!!

  • Robinson Cano is another one who constantly looks for "one pitch" to drive has absoloutely very little plate discipline, for a guy with a world of talent???

  • the Mets sure they make outs they sometimes get bogged down, but from what I seen today they dont get themselves out in ceratian situation (it's ok if the pitcher gets you out that's what he's paid to do. but DONT get yourself out!

  • We need a leadoff hitter OK Damon's been hot lately...but like I've said a dozen times and I'll say again he's a numb3r #3 hitter not a leadoff hitter, and we have two of those already in Abreu and Matsui who's lights out right now! and a future #3 in Cano if he can ever get his $hit together?

barring a trade for a Willy Taveras, Dustin Pedora type or Jose Reyes, I say the ideal leadoff hitter right now is Jeter, he would have to change his approach @ the plate a little and walk more either him or start grooming Melky???

and lastly

Who will Save Joba?

So answer me this? What good is having Joba in the rotation to only have him pitch let's say
"8" beautiful innings and leaving the Yankees ahead 4 to 1, only to bring in Kyle Farnsworth to walk the side then relieve him with Hawkins who gives up a grandslam after???

MAY 28, 2008 - WHAT HIS JOBA?....WHAT THE JOBA?

OK, OK
The Yankees bats finaly woke up "sort of"I'm still not convinced!
and Boston has met their match in Oakland and has dropped quite a few...still the Yankees have not made up much ground.........why?
Because division rivals such as "Baltimore" play the vaunted "Yankees" like as if it's the 7th game of the world series!!!

Alot of people may point the blame @ Rookie Ian Kennedy giving up a 4 run lead, or even Ross Olendorf, but I DONT!

That's the way the way the game was going the even flow @ the time homeruns galore from both sides' Then finally the Yankees struggled bled and fought for that well earned run in the top of the eigth to take the lead with Mariono Rivera settting the pace shutting down the O's two innings before.... too only bring in LaToy Hawkins, to give one hit after the next after the next all balls up in the zone like they were batting off a tee!!!!

Personally I think the Yankees were in the 1st game of this series too, even though they weren't scoring runs and missed a few key spots getting runners in <--- still think the Yankees need either to put Jeter @ leadoff or pursue a .300 type slap hitterin the mold of Willy Taveras or Dustin Pedora to set the table...but that's another argument link

But yes they were very much into game #1 seemed like they were oh so close...until so far away......

Yes, that's until Hawkins came in
and blew it wide open giving 5 runs to th O's giving them the lead @ 6-1, that's 2 night in a row

May. 28, 2008- Who will Save Joba?

Yankees have lost count them #4 in total games as a result of NOT having Joba in the pen since the move back on May.25th to June 5th,

  • #2 in Baltimore
  • #1 against the Mariners and
  • #1 against the Twins
...and let's not even count the 2 inning fiasco 65 pitch count @ the Stadium

  • ...so tell me...

    Who will Save Joba?

So answer me this? What good is having Joba in the rotation to only have him pitch let's say

    Who will Save Joba?

In conclussion, from a Yankee insider--->

    Quote:
If you ask me it’s a mistake with Joba like the Redsox tried with Paplebom they’ll soon see Joba run into high pitch counts and struggle before the 5th

He’s best when comming in for 2 innings tops!
keeping his pitch count down and throwing the heck off the baseball cover,

Like Boston learned with trying to put Pappelbom in the rotation the Yanks will learn as well and look eslsewhere for there Josh Becket.

    He went on........
"The Yankees have alot of problems this year"

The Yankees have alot of problems this year from pourus defense to no rotation or bullpen stabilty and mostly......from suffering from the 2 run homerun mentality "especially Rodriguez" in clutch situation and overswinging. And also, the inability to move runners bunt, steal bases. The basics
"Basically, not having enough speed on the bases".
...Or NOT, able to generate runs that easily without the 2 run HR

... But the Yankees will lose alot more close games this season in late innings if they have to rely on the likes of Ramirez, Farnsworth and Hawkins.
and in todays day and age.... starting pitching usually doesn't go past 6 innings

"even the best pitchers dont usually go past 6 or 7 innings!"

"Would you want Farsnworth to be your 7th or 8th inning guy?"

I wouldn't

Wow the Yankes got a shalacking from the crosstown rival Mets, The Mets just wanted it more and came alive game.

In game #1 if a few breaks and we didn't use Farnsworth (I knew he was a bad match up no matter how good he's pitching vs.the Mets) we should've won!!!
....game #2 their ship lost its sail 11-2 to drop the yanks to 20-24 last place and

Well anyway...I think it's a good time to rest our regs and give the JB Cox's, Mark Melenchon's and Chase wright's @ CHANCE!...... to infuse new blood into our lineup and to see what we have???

Shake things!... up a little?
.........and also for trade bait???

Even though our pitching staff hasn't been clutch. We've gotten NOTHING from 4 and 5
..... and in tight spots 1, and 2 haven't come up clutch either!
but...........offense is the biggest problem!

...night after night only 2 hitters, hitting are Jeter and Matsui!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

every once in a while maybee... once maybee... twice a week?
Johnny Damon shows up...but after the 4th hitter it's basically 6 outs NOTHING!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SOLUTION? TRADE DAMON!

I'm sorry Damon IS NOT A LEADOFF HITTER ANY MORE .270-15 HR, 75 RBI-12 SB under 380 OBP ? and we already have a 3 , 5 and 6 hitter all leftys too!

Two guys I think that would defenetely turn this team around and could be had and not too expensively are Willy Taveras and Mark Grudzielanek

they would add instant excitement to a sluggish offense especially Willy Taveras )reminesecent( of...............

TRADE DAMON NOW TO COLORADO!

..... IF THEY''LL TAKE HIM? ONE OF THE 3 CORNERS HAVE TO GO
...I SAY KEEP ABREAU AND MATSUI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..........PACKAGE
A JB COX OR EVEN A CHASE WRIGHT WHOM I LIKE... IF NEED BE...YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO USE THEM ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

YOU KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GO AFTER C.C. NEXT YEAR ANYWAY!
THE
ONLY UNTOUCHABLES ARE JOBA, JETER AND HUGHES AS FAR AS I'M CONCERENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOURS TRUELY

..........................................................................

Quote: from the NYdailynews (Blogging the Bombers)

May 19, 2008

  • When I asked the scout if getting Alex Rodriguez back would solve all the Yankees’ offensive problems, he replied, “No. It will solve some of them. They’ll never be able to be Billy Ball, because they can’t bunt and steal, so you can throw that kind of stuff out the window.

------------------------------------------------------------------
  • I agree! thats the problem they CANT generate runs!!!
  • no slap happy hitters or contact hitters NOT even "Jeter"
  • ....just line drive guys, ... some with loopy swings

-------------------------------------------------------------------

  • and @ Damon is NOT leadoff hitter anymore!!! link

Lineup card Drop Jeter...

I will not be writing in this blog everyday.....as I've been and hopefully it wont be all negative as it's been? This blog was intended on writing about free agency moves, minor league prospects and game match ups and stragedies especially post season?
You can check with yankees.daily.com or riveraveblues.com whom both cover every game

But somehow the negative is what makes news sometimes....?

Yes the Yanks are now 4.5 out behind the shockingly 1st place DevilRays and Sox after last nights 2-1 offensive debacle

Now according to some the reason the yanks offense if failing is because
of the absense of both Arod and Posada

as covered in

When Alex Rodriguez went down with a quad injury that will keep him on the shelf for a few weeks this year, he hadn’t been off to the same start he enjoyed last year. Admittedly, that’s not a fair comparison. How often does any player hit 14 home runs in a month while single-handedly carrying a team?

to read entire article click here

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However

it is in my opinion: and I've stated this before in my blog in the BRING BACK RICKEY POST..........

THAT...........

They need an entire lineup overhall --->

They need a spark plug on top of the lineup I’m all for moving Melky to #1 hole and Damon to #3 even when Arod comes back, just dont think Johnny is a numb3r #1 anymore? I also would think about moving Jeter to #5 or #6 whom you place @2 …..? right now I’d say Abreu nd ask him to take more walks!!!! What this team doesn’;t do enough but the Great “90’s” teams did!!!!!

I know Abreu isn’t the ideal numb3r #2 …but this lineup needs a shake up and even “Jeter” isn’t untouchable @ this point!

And I would start taking offers for Cano, I dont care how great he will be he?
His mental lapnesses and ineptitude sometimes makes him a player no matter his potential I dont care to have!

We’ve WON before with the likes of Mariano Duncan and stop gaps @ 2nd before!

Melky CF-S
Abreu RF-L
Damon LF-L
Matsui DH-L
Jeter SS-R

riveraveblues.com summed it up best-->

Yanks look uninspired as Pettitte loses

Posted by: Ben K. in Game Stories

For the first time in their team history, the Tampa Bay Rays find themselves in uncharted territories: Following a 7-1 drubbing of a lethargic Yankee team, they are six games over .500, a franchise high-water mark.

Following tonight’s loss, Mike and I were talking about this game. We both agreed — and this is hardly breaking news — that the Yankees without Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez are a vastly inferior team then they are otherwise. The middle of their lineup lacks punch, and the bottom of the lineup — led by a struggling Jose Molina — is fairly heinous.

I was all set to write about how the Yankees look old and bored and the Rays looked young and exuberant. But then Mark Feindsand beat me to it:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opinion:

Even with Posada and Arod this team is NOT consistant seems to lack the desire and overhall during a long season and isn't hungry???
.
.
Right now this doesn't seem to be a team that can rally off 8 to 10 straight wins...than again who knows come July?......
.
.
.
Nor does this team seem to have the internal fortitude to overcome theirselves or an opponet who wants it more
be it a Sabathia, Beckett or Carmona

YANKEES SUCKKKKKKKKKKK

The YANKEES SUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK, I'm pissed off lmao

These guys will jump all over lousy pitching BUT CANT manufacture runs against a decent pitcher! Theres no reason they cant force a walk in let's say the 3rd inning for instance, then maybee take a base and bunt him to third then force a run with a sac fly?

theres 1 run right there!

i dont know?.......................

Then maybee string a walk or maybee a hit {Abreu got two hits tonight and Duncan a double!} .....and maybee put another run across the board in the sixth inning or so???

???

? :-/

There thats 2 runs right there.... 3 to 2 , the pressure is on like when Ricky was on base

But thse guy's CANT do it!

I mean Cliff Lee isn't exactly Sandy Koufax? but these guys aren't exactly O'Neil or Williams or Manny! Shit they're NOT even Ricky LOL,

THEY SUCK!

Sure they'll probably make the post season although it isn't guarenteed, but expect another one and done lack luster cold bat playoff

WHATS WRONG WITH PHIL HUGHES?

Did the Yankees overevaluate Hughes, Kennedy and Cano? Where would they be right now if these pitchers who clearly have growing pains would have been even just mediocre and not God awful?

They would be in 1st place that's where

----------------------------------------
Phil Hughes
W-L 0-4 ERA 9.00 K 13 Walks 13 WHIP 2.14

Ian Kennedy

W-L 0-2 ERA 8.37 K 16 Walks 20 WHIP 2.03
----------------------------------------

Even if they cut those stats in half @ this early point into the season give Hughes one more win, one less lose and cut his and Kennedy's era in half they would be tied for 1st place and not 2 games out like they are @ this point.

These guys are afraid to challenge hitter throw it over the plate. And with "Hughes's" stuff this shouldn't be?

I'm sure one day Phil Hughes will be a good number #2 or #3 starter consistant 15 to 16 game winner 3.00 era, And Kennedy will be around alot of years as a mop up man or 5th starter, but did we over evaluated them both?
I mean but c'mon they're NOT Johan Santana, Erik Bedard are they in that league?

And Robbie Cano can he get his head together in big spots or is he all potetial cant deliever in the big spot???

anyways;
This cant go on! these guys have to go down to the minors and bring up Alan Horne when he's healthy again or Chase Wright who's been lights out in AA ball. But knowing the Yankees they'll bring up Kei Igwaya they have to much $$$ invested in him :-(
